CAS-ual Friday

Okay.
Be honest here friends.

Is this a HOT MESS of a card?

I was rather pleased with it originally, but upon further inspection, began having second thoughts.
Then I showed it to my 6 year old who promptly told me it was
"Very good Mom, but why is it so messy at the bottom?"

*sigh*

It does look messy.
Instead of sponging the ink on the embossed image I went with stippling.
Clearly that wasn't such a good idea.

Never-the-less, I am posting it as my CAS-ual Friday challenge card today, in all its messy glory.
We are teaming up with the Clean and Simple Stamping sketch challenge this week...

And are sponsored by:

Come play along if you like a sketch challenge, or even if you don't (hey, that's why it's a challenge)! *grin*

And feel free to leave constructive criticisms...I can take the heat!

I think it's great!! I love the messiness of it. It's a bit unlike your usual style (I think of you as more of a CAS style!) but it's really pretty. I like the softness of the stippling over the embossing. And how you broke the image over three panels, very nice!

Sorry not to agree on your idea of messiness. I love your card, do agree with Mara. I like the softness and the breaking up of the image. Great work.

I don't think it looks messy at all - I like the stippled effect over the embossing - it looks like a Japanese watercolour. ;-)

1. I love your blog banner.
2. I respectfully disagree with you and your son.

I loved this the second I saw so I had to laugh when I read your blog post. I, too, Thu.k it looking like a painting and is very beautiful!

Sorry, I have to disagree. I think the stippling gives this a really unique look. I love the way you cut the image into panels to resemble a framed painting!

what you call the messiness is what drew me to the card. I love the card and at first thought wanted to copy that technique!

*gasp* This is so gorgeous, Dana! Not "messy" at all! It looks surreal. It's good to play with different techniques.

As cute as your little fella is I have to disagree with him, I really love the stippling around the branch and how you divided the image up into tiles too. Fab card Dana :)

It's always nice to get feedback from the family members and I GET that all the time! But truthfully I don't see the messiness in this --at all! I love this stunning design!

Lovely card for the challenge. I haven't done the resist technique in years and had forgotten how effective it is. Just lovely!
