CAS-ual Fridays (dash)

Hello!
The CAS-ual Fridays girls are teaming up with the 10 Minute Craft Dash for this challenge!
We had to create a holiday card in under ten minutes.

I've joined in with the Craft Dash before, so I know how hard it can be sometimes:)
But this was my shortest time ever, coming in at 6:52! (and I even used a copic to color both sides of the clear button to make it black)

The best part about this challenge is that you can link up to BOTH of them for doubling your chances of winning:)

We are sponsored by Casual Friday Stamps for this two week long challenge. I used Snowflake Greetings, and it was super simple easy peasy! I am considering mass creating these for my New Year's Cards...

I hope you'll join in the fun for this 2 week challenge!

Thanks for stopping by,
XOXO

CAS-ual Fridays (even the score)

I'm doing a little happy dance for the weekend:)
So much to do and not a lot of time left to do it. I plan on being a busy girl for the next few days, by crossing things off my "must-do" list. What are your plans?

I created these star ornaments while on a conference call earlier this week for work.
All I needed to bring to my office was my small paper trimmer, small score-pal (scor-buddy),  some glue, a few sheets of patterned paper, and string. They were so simple and allowed me to stay focused  on the conversation for a few hours while keeping my hands busy.

This week the CAS-ual Friday challenge is all about the scoring!
I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Let me give you a quick run down on how to make these star ornaments...

1. Start with two same size squares of patterned paper.
(no picture)

2. Score them through the middle of both sides and the corners.

3. Cut halfway up on all four of the sides.

4. Begin folding along the cuts so that they meet the diagonal crease.
Repeat for each cut so that both sides form a triangle, and you end up with a four pointed star.

5. Apply glue to one flap of each triangle.

6. Be sure to overlap the flap, to make a pocket inside that allows the other side (once flipped) to "stand up" more.

7. Repeat steps 1-6 for the other square of paper so you have two 4-pointed stars.

8. Then just glue one on top of the other and add a string to hang!

I used several different size squares to begin with, ranging in size from 2 inches to 3 1/2 inches square. All the sizes worked just fine, though of course it was slightly easier to fold those triangle flaps with the larger square.

We are sponsored by SCOR-PAL this week! (who'da thunk it?)

Be sure to play along with us at CAS-ual Fridays this week for some fabulous prizes!

XOXO

Wintery scene

Hi:)
Are you getting snow where you live?
This is the first time since I moved to Western NY 9 years ago, that we have had less than 2 feet of snow in December! It's crazy how warm and un-winter-like the weather has been here!

With that said, I love the flurries that surround the evergreen trees this time of year, and couldn't resist attempting it with my card for the Denami Spotlight.

After stamping the Medium Pine on white CS, I sponged around it with blue inks. When that was dry, I stamped the Splatter image multiple times and heat embossed them with white to signify snow flurries. I then used a liquid applique to make snow on the pine tree.
The Merry Christmas sentiment fit perfectly next to the main image panel and there was room for a punched border and a button and some twine too!

This sweet pine tree stamp is on sale all this week.
Check out the Denami blog to see all the DT samples...there are some beautiful ones!

Pretty packaging blog hop

Hello. Thanks for popping in on the Pretty Packaging Blog Hop!
I'm first on the hop which is SO intimidating, let me tell you:)

I planned for this fun cupcake-turned candle box holder to really WOW but alas, Clever Paulina beat me to it by creating one here for the Denami Blog. *shucks*
And wasn't her photograph beautiful?

For mine, I stamped the Cherry Blossom repeatedly on several sheets of cardstock and punched them out with a 1 inch circle punch and adhered them to the outside. After creating the base that goes inside from kraft CS, I wrapped it with brown grosgrain ribbon. The entire box was tied with red grosgrain and I added a tag to the top with some twine.

Thinking of you (cling)

This was really quite simple to make and took no time at all.
I plan on making several more in different colors (of course putting a NEW candle in each one instead of my partially burned one in this package for photographing purposes *grin*)

Your next stop on the hop is the talented Barb!
Be sure to leave comments at each stop for a chance at winning one of TWO $20 gift certificates to the Denami store!

Thanks for stopping by,
XOXO

8 Happy Nights (night one)

Happy Hanukkah to my Jewish friends and loved ones:)

Tonight marks the start of the traditional 8-day candle-lighting ceremony, and the DT for Casual Friday Stamps is joining in using the new set call 8 Happy Nights

I happen to be night one:)
For the first card, I simply stamped the star repeatedly and colored around them with a copic marker, allowing the white stars to stand out. The sentiment was heat embossed in white.
The second card was just random stamping on a sheet of cardstock and then I cut out the shape of a dreidel, inked the edges, and adhered the pieces to pale grey cardstock matted with dark blue.
I really like this 8 Happy Nights set.

Thanks for stopping by, be sure to check out the CFS blog each night for the next 8 days to see some spectacular creations.
XOXO,

CAS-ual Friday (Knotty or nice)

I know it's winter and the Holidays are upon us, but I am missing spring, so I brought this owl out to play and some greens and blues too:)
This silly pun card is for the challenge this week at CAS-ual Fridays to incorporate knots into your project!

I began with the background stamp from WPlus9 and tried to get the wood knots to show up in the middle of my card (not so good at it, huh? Lol). Then I added the owl and branch from Market Street Stamps, and finished it up with a word bubble from Denami. The sentiments were all computer generated.

We are sponsored this week by Simon Says Stamp
AND...
we are looking for a guest designer to join us! So show us your best effort using knots and it might just be you:)

Thanks for stopping by, hope to see you at CAS-ual Fridays!

Ugh. Monday.
But its time for a new challenge on the Denami blog so I'm happy:)
This time it's CELEBRATIONS!

I chose a new baby as my "celebration" because I have been dying to ink up that sweet little girl or doll stamp in my stash for ages now:) And it pairs so well with the scripty sentiment, don't you think?

CAS-ual Fridays (tags)

I know it's cliche, but TGIF!
This work week has worn me down, but I am planning on having some fun this evening, and getting crafty with a friend this weekend, so it's all good:)

This week at CAS-ual Friday, we were challenged to make tags.

I love making tags.
I use them on packages and gift bags frequently so I can never have enough in my stash.
In fact, I made a few more last week for a post on the Casual Fridays Stamps blog too.

Both sets of tags use Merry Kiss-mas and the top two tags also use Snowflake Greetings.

This week we are sponsored by BossyJoscie! All sorts of awesome craft things are in that shop.

If you enjoy making tags why not join us at CAS-ual Fridays this week and show us your mojo!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great weekend,
XOXO
