Patterned paper sympathy

It's Wednesday! Halfway through the week already!

Today's card was made weeks ago for Sasya's Sketch #14 which debuts today. I like making square cards when I need a larger canvas to fit all my elements on. (I know, I know...I ended that sentence with a prepositional phrase!)

Fun sketch, huh? I turned it on its side and changed it a tiny bit, but I really liked this one. Sasya always has some great sketches. That girl is uber-talented! Have you seen her personal blog?

Originally I stamped a flourish from PTI's Fancy Flourishes set on the grey panel (under the butterflies), but it was too...much? Something. So I cut a new grey piece from the Basic Grey pack I was using (Scarlet's Letter) and left it plain. I like "white space" (or grey space, as the case may be).
The BG was embossed with the swiss dots cuttlebug folder, but because the card was bigger than the folder, I left one side un-embossed! Other stamps are LIfe and Communique Sentiments.

I hope you like this one...I sure do. Come play along this week at Sasya's Sketches!

Thanks for stopping by today friends! And thank you for all your sweet comments on yesterday's card too. Made me feel on top of the world!

This is beautiful - the contrast is so striking. Love the little butterflies and the embossing adds great texture.

Oh my this is beautiful. And soothing. I didn't think black could do that. Funny, I just ordered that sentiment set (first PTI order!!) and had Life in my basket...but then I ran out of money.
