Well friends, this is the last card I will post as a DT member for Sasya's Sketches. What a wonderful experience it's been! I have so enjoyed working with all the talented ladies on the team and just adore Sasya to pieces. She's the sweetest person ever.

PTI Blog Hop

I'm still alive here, I promise! Doesn't life get insanely busy at this time of the year for everyone?

I made this card for the PTI Blog Hop. The challenge was to make a card for a winter holiday OTHER THAN Christmas, and to acknowledge all of the people who don't celebrate Christmas as the high holy day of the year.

What a lovely idea! My first thought was Eid, more specifically, Eid al-Adha, which is celebrated this year on November 17 by American Muslims, and is known as the Festival of Sacrifice.

All supplies are PTI except ribbon. I love using the shimmer CS that PTI carries, it really adds such a nice touch for festive occasions!

Wild floral

Because I rambled a lot yesterday, I will keep today's post brief.

I made this for Sasya's Sketch this week. Some pretty patterned paper, a few embellishments, a simple sentiment and WHALAH!

Love this shot! You can see the tiny pearls I added to the centers of several flowers and the angle I created with the border sentiment strip.

Harvest Time

Wow, I've been AWOL for almost a week my friends!

I won't bore you with insignificant details of my personal life, but lets just say that I wasn't laying around relaxing while I was gone! *chuckle*

I made this card for our Tuesday Throwdown challenge this week. The theme is: anything goes! Yep, not much of a challenge is it? Unless you like being told what to do that is...*wink*

It's a freebie this week, so why not link one of your cards to our challenge blog for a chance to win!

I used some adorable digital images from Dee Dee's Digis for this card and I have to say that I have done a180 turnaround in my opinion of digital images. Originally I didn't care for digital stamps, but now that I've really figured out how to use them, I LOVE how easy they are to manipulate! 

They allow me so much more flexibilty than traditional stamps. I can resize them to fit my sketch, rotate, flip, or mirror image them, and even completely change the layout of the sentiments! LOVE it!

Here's a picture of the set I used, Harvest Love. Notice the sentiment I used on my card looks NOTHING like it does in the original file. Cool, huh? And at only $3, it's a steal!

I also used some scrumptious orange and ivory May Arts ribbon from here. Gorgeous stuff, I tell ya.

Happy Birthday Courtney!

Today is Courtney's birthday so some of us wanted to put together a blog hop for her. The problem is...I don't know all the other bloggers who are participating, so I can't provide links! LOL Courtney is just the sweetest person to work for, and talk about amazing talent! That girl has more in her little finger than some of us have in our entire lives! She's smart, funny, creative and kind. What great things to be.

Anyway, I hope it's a wonderful one Courtney, and you are surrounded by love, laughter, friends, and family who are celebrating YOU!

 I wanted to pop in today to show you the card I made using Sasya's Sketch no. 31.

I adore this sketch and was quite pleased with how my card turned out too. *smile*

I used the new Fine Linen CS from PTI, and the Diamond Impression Plate along with the BB: Diamonds stamp set too. The "thanks" stamp is from Mega Mixed Messages, and the "For this Day" is from Unity.

Flowers are Prima, leaf die-cuts made with an old Sizzix die, and the ribbon from PTI.

PCD Release Day!

So have you seen the full reveal of the newest PCD sets yet? If not they are at the bottom of this post.

These last two card feature the tree images and sentiments from Retro Christmas along with the houndstooth background from Retro Christmas Backgrounds.

Most of you know how in love I am with any orange and pink combo, and that I decorate my home each holiday season with those colors, just as my mother did when I was growing up. So I couldn't resist making a bright, cheerful Christmas card with a retro feel!

If only I had some pompoms! lol!

I went with a more classic feel for this card, and used lots of silver embossing powder to add some shimmer. This one is simple and easy to mass produce. Don't you love those silver button brads? *swoon*

Chipboard challenge

The Tuesday Throwdown challenge blog is hosting a chipboard theme this week, and while I have tons (and I means TONS) of chipboard, I rarely use it. SO...what a perfect challenge for me!

I pulled out this large bird from my Maya Road Chipboard collection and covered it with a sheet of Spring Rain Bitty Box Basics PP that I stamped with BB:Diamonds. I added white gel pen dots to the centers of the diamonds and a Dew Drop eye too!

After using my Spiral Notebook Page die I drew lines on it with a Tombow marker to make it look like real notebook paper and stamped a sentiment from Mega Mixed Messages. Then I stamped another one at the bottom corner of the card to balance things! *wink*

Some trim from Basic Grey and PTI, 2 punched leaf springs, and a few black rhinestones finished it off!

PCD project!

I'm back with the last sneak peek before the PCD release at midnight tonight! 

Courtney asked the Design Team to come up with something other than a card and I immediately thought of fun packaging for my holiday goodies! I love giving home-baked, cooked, and canned foods as gifts.

I stamped the zig zag stamp from Retro Christmas Backgrounds multiple times on a sheet of white CS using different pink and red inks, then sprayed the entire thing with Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist. I was so thrilled with the results that I made an entire sheet more because I thought it was the cutest PP ever! *proud grin*

I also sprayed the tiny reindeer with Vanilla Breeze Glimmer Mist  after I inked him up to give Rudolph some shine. *wink*

I love these retro christmas stamps and I can't wait to show you some more cards I created using these new sets!

Retro and Glimmer Mist peeks

So what do you think of the PCD sneak peeks so far? SO cute, right?*grin*

This card uses mainly the Retro Christmas Backgrounds and a sentiment from Retro Christmas.

Can I tell you how much I adore Glimmer Mist? Originally I thought, "ehhh, what's the big deal?" But now...oh now I know! What a fun product! It just really adds that 'something special' to a project. The trouble is trying to photograph it...grrr. It's really visible IRL, but not so easy to see through a photo.

I sprayed the wreath of lights circle with Honeydew GM and it's amazing how it sparkles. It makes it look like real lights almost! I also sprayed some Pearl GM on a sheet of acetate and used a q-tip to add a thin layer to each of the white lights on the red BG.  I wish you could see how pretty they look in person. 

For this non-traditional card I used a fun masking technique with Turquoise GM.  I stamped the ornament images on masking paper and cut them out. After placing them where I wanted them, I sprayed the CS with turquoise GM and then removed the masks!
 It allowed me to add the sparkle stamp to the middles and a rhinestone too! The white embossed swirls on the grey are the "strings" for the lights that I used in the first card. I liked them all alone too, don't you?


One more!

On this fun purple and green card, I sprayed the Honeydew GM both on the strip of CS where I stamped the string of lights and the ribbon too! It makes the ribbon sparkle so prettily!! I also used the Houndstooth stamp on this one. LOVE THAT STAMP!

OK, so now you've seen lots of samples using the new Retro Christmas and Retro Christmas Backgrounds sets that PCD will be releasing on October 5th. I love that the light bulb images are both an outline AND a solid filler image, so I don't have to color each bulb if I don't want to!

This card was made using the new set called Retro Christmas. (that was our very broad hint yesterday...retro, like when we were kids? *wink*)

I white embossed the pattern on the bottom and also the ornaments before adding the sparkle in the open space. I love that the "hangers" are a separate stamp, in case you don't want to hang them! lol

Clean and simple today, but I made 7 different cards/projects with these two new sets already, so be prepared for many different styles coming your way!

Countdown time!

Hello everyone! 

Today begins the countdown to the release of Practicing Creativity's two new sets! 

(Yes...I said TWO! *squeal*) 

Instead of a visual hint about this release, Courtney asked us to share our favorite childhood Christmas movie (broad hint here, very broad), so I'm here to tell you all about mine.

Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas is a Jim Henson TV special based on a book that first aired the year I was born (1977). It became our Christmas tradition to watch it every year, and because I loved the book, I fast fell in love with the musical television adaptation. To this day it is my FAVORITE holiday movie and as a family, we watch it every Christmas Eve after opening our new pajamas. I know all the songs by heart, and so do my children and my hubster too. *grin*   If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. You will fall in love, especially if you liked the Muppets.

Both of these cards were made for last month's release by PCD, along with a green one in the same style that I previously shared (here). I like simple and quick occasionally and these both fit the bill! Christmas Wonder is such a versatile set.
