Monochromatic CAS-ual Fridays

How's your week been?

I'm ending my day with a parent/teacher conference so I KNOW I will be looking forward to the weekend. *smile*

But right now it's time for another CAS-ual Friday challenge!

This week's theme is Mostly Monochromatic. 

Pick three shades of a color and add chocolate brown.

Simple and easy, right?

Green is a healthy, vibrant color and because we drink a lot of raw green smoothies in our house it was a clear choice for me!

And with this fabby flower BG stamp by Stampotique, and a matching sentiment...I was set!

Stampotique is sponsoring us this week and each designer was sent several stamps to work with. (I love this job!)

I was also inspired by their monochromatic green logo!

Cool, huh?

Keeping it clean and simple was the hard part for me this week. 

I wanted to add multitudes of flowers for all those names on the BG stamp, but I restrained myself with three 2-toned cherry blossoms from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Birthday Party

My youngest is headed to a birthday party for his classmate today. 

The birthday girl is turning 8, and I wanted to make her a fun card but also something a bit more grown-up. She's new in the school, so he wasn't sure what she liked, but I thought brights would work, *fingers crossed*

I even stamped the inside! (and drew tiny purple flowers with a glitter pen.)

THEN...my youngest asked if he could make her a card too.

He loves to stamp with me and make cards, so I said yes and he got to work.

Before I show you what he made, let me tell you that he's only 6, and did everything by himself (except for the dispensing of glue). 

He picked the papers, the colors, inked and stamped the stamp himself, did most of the punching (I helped with the border), and decided on the placement of each item. 

He even took the photo on his own using my iphone.

Isn't this great?

I was so proud of him!

And when he was done he was pretty happy with it, saying, "It's good Mama, just like one of yours!" 

*sniff sniff*

Mini CAS-ual Friday

I'm coming at you today with a set of super simple mini card for this week's CAS-ual Friday challenge!

Mini cards are so fun, and working with a smaller canvas gets my mojo flowing so I frequently make smaller cards in multiples.

ATC (Artist Trading Cards) used to be my "mini" canvas of choice, but mini cards are more practical and can be slipped into backpacks, lunchboxes, and under office doors with a smile too!

 I put it in for size reference. Sometimes when looking at pictures of mini things, you can't really tell they are smaller without something to compare them to. 

All stamps used on these are Practicing Creativity Designs. Love those dandelions. *sigh*

Friendship flags

Hi everyone!

Wanted to post this card I made for a friend who loves plaid and gingham.

It's not easy to combine the two. 

Gingham conjures up images of aprons and tablecloths and country farmhouses, while plaid always makes me think of Scotland and kilts and winter scarves!

BG was created by stamping two different gingham stamps in opposite directions in both grey and red. Sentiment and leafy branches by The Stamps Of Life. Flag PP is Basic Grey, and twill is May Arts.

Apple thanks

I'm popping in today with a thank you card featuring Denami's small apple stamp, which happens to be on sale this week!

I love pink lady apples. 

They are my favorite flavor of apple, so I created this card in their honor.

 Who says apples must be red, green, or yellow? *smile*

I stamped the apple outline several times and colored all but one in with Copics. Then I added simple designs. I paper pieced one and stamped it with versamark using the Decorative Flourish stamp. All the leaves are colored with a Spica Atyou glitter pen. The sentiment is one of my favorites from Denami, because I am thankful for many people in my life.

Fruit Salad

9/11-We will never forget

 Good morning friends. 

I'm joining in the Denami Blog Hop today which is all about tasty treats!

You should have arrived from Suzanne's blog, but if you are lost just go to the Denami Blog to see a list of participants.

One of my favorite foods in the whole world is fresh fruit salad. *swoon*

 I could eat it daily, and often do!

Many mornings this summer I have chopped up half a melon, a few plums and peaches, and tossed in some blueberries or raspberries and a sliced banana.  With a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice it's the best breakfast ever!

Not only did I use a variety of fun fruit stamps from Denami, but I also used the rainbow stamp to help me make the bowl! After inking and stamping the last arc of the rainbow, I simply drew a tiny bottom and a curved top. I then created a vellum overlay to make it look as if it were a clear bowl.
