CAS-ual Fridays (clear)

Hello friends! Is anyone else ready for school to be out yet? *sigh*
My boys are clamoring for summer to be here, and I'm so tired of telling them how many days of school are left EACH AND EVERY DAY! *chuckle*

Are you up for the newest CAS-ual Friday challenge?

Use vellum or clear cardstock on your project this week, for a chance at six awesome sets from Paper Smooches designed by, and courtesy of...
Our very own, KAROLYN Loncon!!!!

That's right, Karolyn is giving away SIX BG stamp sets that she designed from Paper Smooches:) Isn't she a gem? I just {heart} her.
Stamps used on my card today are from The Crafts Meow. I love how that border punch is similar to the flower heads...neato:) I used Zing e.p to make the flowers stand out on the vellum.

I hope you'll join in on the fun this week at CAS-ual Fridays, and show us your project made with vellum or clear cardstock!

Thanks for stopping by,
XOXO

CAS-ual Friday(Opposites)

Hiya!
So are you all excited to see who the new Design Team is at CAS-ual Fridays???
Go see...I'll wait!
...
...
I KNOW, right?!?!!! *squeal*
What an amazing group of talented folks. I feel privileged just to be working with them:) I know you will be blown away each week once they start participating. *smile*

This week's challenge is one of my favorites!
I love using opposing colors from the color wheel! And because orange is my all-time favorite color, I had to go with orange and blue.

We are sponsored by The Craft's Meow this week!
They have the sweetest stamp sets ever!

And since Celebrating You was the first set I ever owned from TCM, I thought it fitting to use it for this challenge:)
I embossed the flowers with orange Zing e.p., added highlights with a Copic marker and a white gel pen before embossing the sentiment in white. To pull more white into the card and balance my off-center flowers, I cut the blue panel down to show more of my white base, and added the orange ribbon loops.
Sometimes I'm happy with my cards and this is one of those times! *grin*

I really hope you'll join us this week at CAS-ual Fridays because I enjoy checking out all the submissions. And be sure to welcome the OUTSTANDING new DT at CAS-ual Fridays too!
(Welcome new ladies! I'm so happy to be working alongside you!)

Thanks for stopping by,

CAS-ual Friday (Paper piecing)

I'm really happy it's Friday! You?
Have any plans?
I'm taking my boys to Bounce Magic with a friend.
Believe me when I say you need the support of a friend in a place like that! *chuckle*
It's a giant indoor bounce house/arcade/chuck-e-cheese type of place. Masses of screaming children running wild and spreading chaos (and germs...ewwww) everywhere.
*sigh*
Remind me again why I'm doing this? (While my more worldly friends go to a show, share a bottle of chardonnay, and listen to jazz curled up by the fireplace)

Well anyway, this week's CAS-ual Friday challenge is what we're here for!

And it's all about the paper piecing!
It's such a fun technique and simple to do too.
I used my new set, Fruity For You, from The Craft's Meow, who happen to be our sponsor this week! Aren't those plums adorable?

I also had to throw in some twine from The Twinery. *grin* Just couldn't resist!

Grab some stamps and some scraps of paper and join us this week for the CAS-ual Friday challenge! We love seeing all your projects.

Thanks for stopping by,

Groundhog cookies!

You can still enter my giveaway until February 6th! Click HERE!

Hiya!
Happy Groundhog's Day 2012!!
Do you think Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow this year?

It's become a running tradition here on the blog to post the recipe and photos of my spicy Groundhog cookies, so I don't want to disappoint...*grin*
We do so love these cookies.
And I promise they are not made with spicy groundhog meat...! HA

Recipe can be found here, and here, and here for my Spicy Groundhog Cookies.
I love to send them in to school with the kids to share with their classroom.
Yummy.

Since I have no groundhog stamps, I went with this darling set from The Craft's Meow called Butterfly Kisses.
Isn't it sweet?
I love that image of the girl with wings holding a flower.
And the font of the sentiment is beautiful!
I began by stamping the butterfly image repeatedly in black ink on the grey panel and then added a tiny white gel pen dot in the center of each.
After stamping and cutting the girl out from pale yellow CS I glued a paper flower into her hands. I knew I wanted the sentiment to be on a tiny tag, but I could not decided where to put it! *chuckle*
I placed it in several locations before it ended up where it is!

Well thanks for stopping by today, I hope you have a wonderful Groundhog's Day (and I hope we see spring soon)!

Operation Julie's Smile/CAS-ual Friday

Hi Sweet friends (and new-comers)!
Welcome to the Blog Hop and CAS-ual Friday challenge!
If you arrived here from the CAS-ual Friday blog, you are on the right track!

Today is a special day.
We are blog hopping in support of my pal Julie's cause. (see below)
I have 2 cards to share with you.

(all stamps by The Craft's Meow, "smile" is my own handwriting)

Our CAS-ual Friday challenge this week is to base your project around this statement:

True, is it not?

Well I wanted to go really clean & simple this week, so brace yourselves...

Hee hee! Are you singing that song from Annie now?
I've been singing it for days!

Because The Craft's Meow is the sponsor this week at CAS-ual Fridays, I made sure to use one of my favorite sets from them: Fun {Tash} tic. SO much fun!

So here are the Blog Hop details:
  • BLOG HOP RUNS THROUGH SUNDAY, OCTOBER 9th AT 11:59pm EST
  • If you get lost, a full blog list is HERE.
  • There are more than $2500 worth of prizes donated by various companies!
  • Prizes will be drawn from the blog comments, the Paypal donation list, and the blog hop participants.
  • See donation button below:

And here is WHY we are holding this hop:

“The creative blogging community is coming together this weekend to help one of our friends, Julie Ranae.  You may know her as the Design Team Coordinator for many wonderful companies from bakers twine, die cuts, rubber stamps and more.  What many people don’t know about Julie Ranae is that she has had some pretty major dental surgeries in her lifetime due to medication she had to take as a child.  It was in her plans to think about having all of her teeth  replaced at some point in the next 5 years, a decision that was pretty easy to plan out.  But then it happened…she chipped her front teeth on a weekend about a month ago. The dentist told her there was no way to save them & that it was his recommendation that she give in and have them all her teeth removed soon, but for that day, they needed to get her front teeth done so her gums could begin to heal. He said he would 'work out payments with her to have ALL this work done...but when she called to make her appt for the first step of impressions, they told her the amount of money that was needed and that the 'payments' applied only to the two teeth that were extracted that day. Her husband Paul was with her & that too, was his understanding as well. So this is how she has found herself in this situation…Needing at least $4000 to get started and another $3000 to finish the process…a total of $7000.
Nicole Rixon, owner of Sweet Stamp Shop put together this benefit after finding out about this situation and before Julie Ranae knew it, it took flight! Because she is an event organizer by trade, she has taken on the job of organizing all of the blogs in this hop as her way of ‘working overtime’ for what she needs, the same as if she were able to work overtime at an outside job to pay for the work to be done.
It is the goal of all of these generous friends & sponsors to help make this situation more do-able for our friend so that she can share a brand new smile with all of us soon.
If there is anything you can do to help with a financial donation, there is a donation button ready for you to click.  Any amount is appreciated and ALL DONATIONS will be eligible for prizes from our sponsor pool of over $2500.”

I hope you enjoyed your stop here on the hop!  The next stop is the lovely and talented Julie Day's blog.  Make sure you leave a comment here before you go so that you can have a chance at the amazing prizes up for grabs...and if you can, please make a donation so we can help bring back a new smile for our friend.

Thank you so much for stopping by,
*mwah*

Happy Wednesday all!

Because our challenge is sponsored by The Crafts Meow, the prize for the winner is ANY stamp set of your choice!
