Blog Hop with Shrink Plastic!

It's time for the Denami Design Blog Hop again!
This month's theme is "Girlie Girl!"
You should have arrived here from Colleen's blog, but if you get lost just go back to the beginning.

I went all out for this one and created some jewelry for one of my great-nieces.
Yep...jewelry with Denami stamps!

See those tiny teddy bears and beads on the bottom of my card?
It's actually a bracelet and I used Shrink Film to make it
!
The Teddy Bear image was perfect for making charms. But I wanted to add a bit more to my card so I used the small Heart Pair, and two sentiments from the Heartfelt Greetings set. All CS, ribbon, and buttons are also Denami products...they have everything!

You can see here I stamped the teddy bear on 2 different kinds of shrink plastic, Clear and Matte. I also stamped them with both brown and black Memento ink to see which looked better once it had shrunk, and colored them with Copic markers.

Look how cute that tiny charm is! I love these pink teddys!

I put the bracelet on to show you that I created 5 tiny teddy bear charms, but only 4 are visible here. The bracelet is sized for a little girl, so it was stretched tightly on my own adult wrist! *chuckle*

Your next stop on the Hop is DEBBIE'S BLOG!
Be sure to comment on each participant's post for a chance at one of TWO $20 Gift Certificates from Denami!

I am officially addicted to stamping with shrink plastic now. More will be coming for sure.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a good one!

Dangle Charm with digital stamps

Here's what I love the most about digital stamps: they can be resized!

I've had this Vintage dangle charm DIY kit for a while and just couldn't find stamps that fit perfectly into those gorgeous silver frames. Until now that is.

CS Designs has some really awesome, quirky, artsy digital stamps that I just cannot resist. And because they can be resized I knew they were perfect for this kit.

The first brand of crystal lacquer I used made the ink run so I bought a new kind and covered the second image with great success.

I attached this fun dangle to a beautiful silver necklace chain and plan to wear it soon!

Thanks for stopping by,

Framed baby wall hook

You can never have too many hooks in my humble opinion. They are so useful. Throw your towel over it to dry, hang your jacket up, use it for an easy-reach burp cloth in the nursery, etc.

This sweet photo frame had a fabulous hook on it and I couldn't resit purchasing it from T.J.Max a few weeks ago. Little did I know it would come in handy for creating the perfect gift using the new stamp set, Little Bundle, by Practicing Creativity Designs.

After painting the wooden frame a soft pink, I stamped a lavender piece of CS with the long leafy stem from Fall Fest, and then over stamped in white, the buttons from Little Bundle
Inside the frame I placed a matted B&W cardstock photo sticker and added the sentiment and moon image to the outside.

I'm just so happy with this project...it almost makes me want to have a little girl...ALMOST! *chuckle*

Be sure to stop by and see what the other girls have done. I was blown away by the adorable baby gifts they came up with!

Thanks for stopping by today, have a wonderful Wednesday!

Stamped onesies for my great-niece

HI All! I'm away for the weekend with no internet access, so I'm scheduling this post.

I glued the buttons on with non-toxic fabric glue and double stitched them too! Those buttons are NOT coming off!

Her daddy (my nephew) is a huge VW fan, and his favorite color is purple, so this one is super appropriate for her! I double stamped the sentiment so the lavender would add a shadow effect. It didn't really work, it just looks blurry! lol!

Here's where the whole thing went wrong.
Horribly wrong.
*sigh* I knew the Copics would bleed, so I left a pretty good margin between my coloring and the outline of the duck. Everything was great until I went back over it to darken the color. The second layer started to spread and I freaked! I'm practically screaming at it to "STOP, PLEASE STOP!" As you can see, my "wide margin" was nowhere near wide enough...
Live and learn people. Don't do what I did!

I love the font on the cupcake one and how "sassy" is is! I hope her mom will like this one!

For packaging I just recovered the CS that came in the original plastic.

I'm so excited about meeting my great-niece Evelyn this weekend! I hope her parents like her onesies.

All black ink is Memento Tuxedo black, all colored ink is Palette hybrid (except the duck which was colored with Copic markers). Stamps from PTI and Inkadinkado.

Thanks for stopping by today friends I'll catch-up on your posts when I return!

Another Notepad

A few weeks ago Amy posted a really great notepad that she had made for someone. She mentioned that she was always making them but didn't have one for herself. I agreed. Always making fun things for others but not for ourselves. (Isn't that just like us crafters?!) So I suggested a trade. I make one for her, and she make one for me!
This is the one I made specifically for her.
I stamped the Damask Designs image in White Snow pigment ink on Sweet blush CS and then again, slightly off-center with Sweet Blush pigment ink. It gives it an embossed look that I really like (and Amy said she thought it was flocked and tried to feel it! lol).  I stamped the text onto the Spring Moss CS with Sweet blush ink too, and then layered it with Aqua Mist CS.
Additions include buttons, Berry Sorbet ribbon, and the scalloped circle "note to self" sentiment, all on a kraft base with a white notepad inside.

It was really fun to make this for her, and it feels good to send some snail mail to someone I only know through this amazing hobby. Hope you enjoyed it too Amy!

Thanks for stopping by today! Be creative!

Pop-up Surprise box

Man O man, the power has been out here since last night and so my office was closed today and so was the ski resort where my youngest attends daycare. It just came on at 10:15 am! All I could think about was not being able to post to my blog! *chuckle* I guess I know where my priorities are!
Today I posted a really cute pop-up box over at the Verve Visual Blog that I made a few weeks ago. I found the directions to construct it here. After scoring and cutting the template, I stamped and embossed some hearts on it.

Then I made a front piece and after constructing the box, covered the attached lid with ribbon.
Isn't it cute? Wait till you see how it opens! This is my favorite part!

The lid is attached, so it won't fall off or get lost. You just lift up and the center opens and you can see your goodies! I filled this one with some fun pink embellishments for my best friend for St. Valentine's Day.
This little box is not difficult to make at all, and it's perfect for teacher's gifts, or family and friends. All stamps from the clear Wild Thing set by Verve Visual.

Last day of School!

Stickyfingers, our 8 year old, is delighted that today is his last day of 1st grade. Last night we worked on a card and small gift for his teacher. Of course, he wanted it to be a lot more, but dinner, dishes, and laundry got in the way, much to his chagrin.
I had fun using up some older PP for this card, and I enjoyed the layout challenge from SCS too. I realized that SU's "big blossoms" stamp set matched the PP perfectly and got quite excited!

SUPPLIES: CS is Bazzill and SU, PP is by Rob and Bob studios, Flowers stamps by SU, sentiment by Papertreyink, ribbon by SU, ink by Versamagic, Ranger, colorbox, and SU.

This is the "gift" we made her. A giant clothespin for her desk! I used the same PP so the whole shebang would coordinate, and painted some chipboard alphas a pale blue to match the PP, tossed on a flower and some green ribbon and was done! I took a quick photo of Stickyfingers holding a blank white sheet of butcher's paper, and after printing it out I added a rub-on (MM) to say thanks!
He was very excited to take the card and gift to school for her this morning. At the last minute, we picked some fresh organic peas from our garden and he took those in to the whole class too.
I'd say it was a good start to a last day!

You've got mail!

I've been avoiding jumping on the Target Mailbox bandwagon, but the pull was too strong! I made this cute little number for our older foster son's teacher. The mailbox was from Target's $ spot and I just added some paper and ribbon basically.

Heart stamps by SU, sentiment stamp by ??, PP from Joann's, CS scraps, white and clear EP, MM fabric label and rub-ons, heart buttons, while gel pen doodling, various ribbon scraps, white grosgrain from ?? , Black Archival ink, Versamark ink, Versamagic chalk ink, small heart paper punch.

Paint can

I went to a family baby shower late last year, and because I'd been wanting to try it, I decided to alter a paint can and fill it with necessary items for the mom-to-be. It wasn't hard at all once I decided which papers to use. The problem with that, was color. The couple was having a girl. Seems simple enough, right? Pink is the obvious answer, although I was thinking of something a bit more daring, like shockingly hot pink, or maybe a salmon color instead of plain old baby pink. But, the father-to-be (my nephew), vehemently expressed his dislike for all things pink, and expressly forbade anyone from his side of the family to give them any pink stuff.
So...I went with orange, yellow and blue with touches of dark red.

It turned out to be a big hit at the shower, with several folks "pre-ordering" one from me for various other events!

I used PP from Chatterbox, red chipboard letters by MM, Prima flowers, various ribbons and ric rac from my stash, embellishments by Doodlebug, $ Tree, MM, and Joanns. Bazzill chipboard flower. I adhered the paper to the can using Mod Podge and it worked well.

I filled the can with: Aveno baby wash, lotion, and diaper rash cream, a pack of white onsies, an accessories kit in a teal bag that had nail clippers, a thermometer, bulbous nose thingie, medicine spoon, etc., a 4 pack of organic cotton baby washcloths, a bottle brush, a pack of organic cotton baby socks, a binky clip thingie, and a mini comp book journal decorated to match the can for the mom's purse.

I still have a few empty paint cans left from my buying spree last year, and I think I will alter one for our oldest foster son's teacher.

sharing paper

I recently bought an 8x8 stack of textured, patterned CS at my local Joanns. My friend Bobbie mentioned that she really wanted some but didn't want to pay full price, so I used a coupon and bought it for us to share! It came with 2 of each design, so I split it equally with her (except for one pattern which I didn't care for and I gave them both to her), but it looked so forlorn without its cover. Hmmmm. What could I do to make that stack of paper look better?

I know...make another cover!

So I quickly cut a red textured strip of paper, leftover from a customer's wedding invites this past summer and added a torn strip of brown CS on top. The ironic part being that the red textured paper CAME from Thailand where it is handmade! So it really is "Far East." I hand drew the words using a Sakura Glaze pen, and doodled some faux sewing along the edges and a small flower. I stamped a portion of an image from SU's "Artfully Asian" set on the left side of the title in Versamagic white cloud ink, and added a cool caribbean CS circle to finish it off. I stapled ribbons to the sides of the entire piece and then tied them in back to keep this "cover" on the stack. She should be getting this soon--hope she likes it!
